Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond is requesting a more than $1.8 million increase for next year.
About half of that increase would fund five corrections officers, four patrol officers and two detectives. The other half would be for operations increases, including fuel expenses.
Hamilton County Commissioner Joe Graham said commissioners won't be supporting a tax increase and asked Hammond if he could live without an increase.
Hammond said the department had overages in several areas this year. “That’s my concern, the things we have no control over,” Hammond said.
