Hamilton County Sheriff's Office discovered articles used to manufacture methamphetamine at a suspicious fire on Thursday, authorities said.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential trailer at 8322 Daisy Dallas Road, after the Hamilton County 911 Center reported what appeared to be smoke coming from the residence, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson said.

When firefighters arrived, they checked inside the trailer and found suspicious-looking items, Atkinson said. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division responded to the scene and detectives discovered numerous articles used to manufacture meth, Atkinson said.

Investigators also found several pieces of property that appeared to be stolen, Atkinson said. The scene was processed and the evidence, including the suspected stolen property, were taken to the sheriff's office's property division.

The investigation is ongoing.
