Orders are due today for Chattanooga Breakfast Rotary Club's I Smell Smoke fundraiser, timed to offer a barbecue dinner over Memorial Day weekend.
Based on the overwhelming support of the initial event, club members plan to smoke more than 300 Boston butts in the parking lot of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, 3319 Hixson Pike, overnight on May 25. The meat will be available for pickup between 8 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26.
Cost for each butt is $30.
To order online, go to www.rotaryofchatta noogabreakfast.com (a $1 surcharge will be added). Your receipt from your credit-card order will serve as the voucher for pickup.
All proceeds benefit the club's local-project fund, which supports four neighborhood public elementary schools. Previously, funds have been used to purchase dictionaries for every third- and fourth-grade student and thesauruses for the fifth-graders.
