University of Tennessee at Chattanooga All-America linebacker Wes Dothard sat down with the Times Free Press to answer 10 questions. Some were football-related; some were just silly. Here are the seven most illuminating responses:
1. What's the most memorable moment of your athletic career?
"It was probably the [30-yard] interception return for a touchdown against Jacksonville State in 2011. That was the best time; that was the start of my career, I felt like. It was the first major moment and the best one."
2. Where do you see yourself or hope to be in 10 years?
"I would like to be in the NFL 10 years from now. If that doesn't work out, then hopefully I'll be practicing law or in law school. That's probably the only thing that interests me. The criminal justice system just attracts me more than anything else."
3. If you could have only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
"It would probably be a meat lover's pizza from Pizza Hut. It's the best thing ever."
4. What part of playing college football has been the biggest surprise?
"The biggest surprise was coming in freshman year and seeing how fast the game is played from high school to the college level. A lot of things I've learned in college, if I knew them in high school, it would have been a much easier process adjusting to college."
5. What music, if any, do you listen to before a game?
"I listen to a little bit of everything, but my favorite artist to listen to before a game is Pastor Troy. He's a rapper; he's gone a little bit out of style now, but back in his prime he was a pretty good rapper.
"I like to jack myself up before a game. I usually only listen to slow music when I'm depressed or in a sad move, but before a game I'm trying to get jacked up."
6. If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?
"It would probably be Michael Jordan, back in his prime. I would love to have been Michael Jordan for a day back then."
7. If you had to be stranded on a desert island with two teammates, who would they be and why?
"I would pick Kadeem [Wise] or D.J. [Key], but I probably wouldn't survive with them. I'd have to probably pick Gunner Miller and Chris Mayes. Gunner's wild and crazy, and if I needed somebody by my side I would want him if anything had to go down.
"Chris Mayes is just a big guy, and I know he could take care of me. And if I had to run from anything, I know they'd catch him first before they got to me."
