Riverfront Nights schedule announced

photo Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds, a nine-piece soul/rock/funk band from Brooklyn, will headline Riverfront Nights on Sept. 1.

Riverfront Nights, a free Saturday night concert series held at the 21st Century Waterfront, will kick off Aug. 4 and will feature live music, educational elements, food and a new On the Green activities series.

Friends of the Festival and Chattanooga's Parks and Recreation Department have partnered to produce the series, which runs through mid-September with a break on Aug. 25 for the Southern Brewers Festival.

On the Green activities will include an array of sports, hobbies and pastimes organized by Outdoor Chattanooga. Comcast, which is sponsoring the feature, will also be dedicating a new On Demand channel exclusively to Riverfront Nights, focusing on both the music and the non-profit organizations manning their information posts each night.
