Walker County Sheriff's Office employee charged in gun thefts

A Walker County Sheriff's Office employee was arrested and charged with 11 counts of felony theft Thursday after a GBI investigation revealed he had taken guns from the Sheriff's Office property room, according to a news release.

Thomas Scott Davis, 39, had been in charge of the property room for about three years. There is no evidence that Davis sold any of the guns he took, which were designated for destruction or judicial sale, according to a news release.

Sheriff Steve Wilson requested the GBI to investigate the allegation on Monday.

Davis has been released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
