Jennifer White of the Museum Center at Five Points has been chosen from among more than 300 applicants to take part in a Washington, D.C., teacher institute held by the Library of Congress, a news release states.

Each year, the library provides the chance for K-12 educators to attend one of its seven teacher institutes in Washington. In the five-day June program, participants learn effective practices for using primary sources in the classroom, while exploring some of the millions of digitized historical artifacts and documents on the library's website, according to the release.

Educators attending the institutes develop primary source-based teaching strategies that they can take back to their school districts, apply in the classroom and pass along to colleagues, the release states. Session participants typically include school library media specialists, school administrators and classroom teachers.
