Krystal restaurant, a late-night favorite for college students and tailgaters, has closed its Cumberland Avenue location near the University of Tennessee campus.

The company-owned store, located next to the newly-renovated McDonald's, served up its last signature little square hamburgers and mini chili pups on Tuesday.

By Wednesday, the windows of the restaurant at 1718 Cumberland Ave. were boarded up and signs directed patrons to other Krystal locations including Chapman Highway and Western Avenue. The closure leaves 11 Krystal restaurants in Knoxville, according to the company's website.
