Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant today marked the production of its 100,000th car.
The car, a night blue Passat TDI, was turned over to a Norcross, Ga., woman who had bought the vehicle in Atlanta.
Frank Fischer, the plant's chief executive, said that he is proud of the plant's team for reaching the milestone so quickly.
He said that it was just a year ago that the plant had its official opening.
It was Feb. 7 of this year that the plant produced its 50,000th Passat.
