Meg Howard finished with a hat trick, and the Brentwood soccer team defeated Arlington 4-1 to advance to the Class AAA state semifinals at Baylor.

Howard received assists from Jordan Chawan, Cammy Gilfillan and Lena Nash as the Lady Bruins (16-2-1) moved on to face Farragut today at 6:30. The Lady Admirals defeated Soddy-Daisy 5-0 in another quarterfinal.

Brentwood scored three of their four goals in the final 40 minutes.

Mary Stewart Schwarz scored the other goal for the Lady Bruins, while Alyxandria Stafford scored the game's first goal for Arlington (11-11-1).

• Houston 1, Knoxville Catholic 0: The Lady Mustangs finished with 18 shot attempts, but only the last one mattered as Kelsey Pearce's goal in the 108th minute led Houston over the Lady Fighting Irish and into the Class AAA state semifinals.

• Siegel 2, Clarksville 1: Madison Louk nailed a shot with about a minute remaining to give the Lady Stars (15-3-3) the win. Cheyenne Moultry scored in the first half for Siegel, but Clarksville's Ella Baggett had a penalty kick with under 10 minutes left.

• Christ Presbyterian Academy 2, Sacred Heart 0: The Lady Lions dominated possession and dominated shots, but only had two goals in a three-minute span to end the first half. Lindsay Curtis scored on a corner kick, while Olivia Ball added a goal in the 38th minute. CPA's defense held Sacred Heart without a shot.

• Christian Academy of Knoxville 5, Liberty 0: Hannah Clothier finished with a pair of goals for the Lady Warriors (22-0-3), who haven't lost to a Class A/AA opponent since the 2010 state championship match.

Volleyball

No. 2-ranked Southeast Whitfield's volleyball season came to an end Wednesday at the hands of No. 1-ranked Sandy Creek. The Lady Patriots will advance to the GHSA Class AAAA state-championship match after winning 3-0 at Marist in Atlanta.

Southeast ends its season 37-11, which is a season school record for victories. The 2012 season also marked the first time the Lady Raiders advanced as far as a state semifinal.
