NASHVILLE — Republican U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais is seizing on the nation’s latest jobs report to blast President Barack Obama and his own Democratic opponent, Eric Stewart, in Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District race.
“Today’s disappointing jobs report proves that the Obama administration’s four years of trillion dollar deficits, failed ‘stimulus’ spending, excessive government regulations and threats of tax increases on small businesses have failed to strengthen our economy and create jobs,” the Republican congressman said in a news release.
DesJarlais said Stewart “has stated that he supports President Obama and his policies that are costing jobs right here in Tennessee.”
The U.S. Department of Labor reported today that the unemployment rate inched up 0.1 percent to 7.9 percent after a sharp decline last month.
