The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team was up and on the road early Saturday for a trip to Cookeville, Tenn., and a scrimmage against Tennessee Tech.
UTC coach John Shulman, who couldn't discuss specifics from the scrimmage, said the trip was a "learning experience" for his young team.
"We saw some things today that we haven't been working on, and that was good for us," he said. "There were some different defenses thrown at us. Thank goodness we have these scrimmages because now we know where we need to work."
Shulman said the Mocs struggled in several areas against Tennessee Tech, but he hoped the experience would get them to focus more in practice as they prepare for their Nov. 12 opener against Tennessee Temple.
"I think we have some cleaner ears now to listen to what we're trying to teach them," he said.
