Memphis trolleys lead nation in light-rail passenger growth

The bus takes Leola McAdams only so far, which explains why she was riding the trolley on the final leg of her commute from North Memphis to a custodial job at First Tennessee Bank one recent evening.

"When I don't feel like walking, I hop on the trolley," she said, referring to the trek down Main from the Memphis Area Transit Authority bus terminal in the Pinch District.

Thanks in part to commuters such as McAdams, the Memphis trolley system is enjoying a major increase in popularity.
