Five area players have been named finalists for the annual TSSAA Mr. Football awards, including one each in the three public school classifications for Lineman of the Year. Boyd-Buchanan’s Malik Brewer is one of three finalists for Class A Lineman of the Year, while Howard’s Brandon Walters is up for AA’s top lineman and Bradley Central’s Austin Sanders for AAA’s top lineman.
South Pittsburg running back Demetric Johnson is the area’s only finalist for Back of the Year, that coming in Class A, while Baylor’s Rafael Gaglianone is one of three overall finalists for Kicker of the Year.
The award winners will be announced Nov. 26 at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Murfreesboro.
