The Samaritan Center, in partnership with Bill Brown Trucking Co. and Adventist Disaster Response, is collecting donations to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Donations will be accepted in the Samaritan Center parking lot, 9231 Lee Highway, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Monday.

Bill Brown Trucking Co. has donated a truck and driver to deliver supplies to a disaster distribution warehouse in New Jersey, according to Cheryl Torres, Samaritan Center marketing director.

Torres said Adventist Disaster Response will run the warehouse at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide supplies for local community service organizations and relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

"Our community experienced the generosity of support from across the country following the tornadoes of 2011 and 2012. Now is our chance to pay it forward," said Torres.

Torres said the following items will be collected: 2-gallon mop buckets, mops, brooms, dustpans, pillows, sheet sets, small cookware sets, dinnerware, silverware, plastic glasses, food storage sets, cooking utensils, dish drainers, toasters, dish towels, pot holders, toilet bowl brushes, toilet brush holders, plungers, shower curtains, towel/wash cloth sets, and storage totes.
