Two male students at Brainerd High School were taken into custody Oct. 25 for bringing a gun to school.
Chattanooga police spokesman Officer Nathan Hartwig said a school resource officer and administrators discovered a handgun in a locker after being tipped off. A 14- and 17-year-old were taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Facility, he said.
The teens were charged with carrying a weapon on school property, Hartwig said.
Lee McDade, assistant superintendent for Hamilton County Schools, said both boys were suspended.
