Tennessee quarterfinals

Class 5A

Ooltewah (9-3) at Columbia Central (10-2), 8

Columbia did play one Chattanooga-area team, suffering its second loss of the year in a 24-7 home setback against Baylor. The Lions' other loss was 28-0 to Dickson County. ... There are no common opponents. ... Columbia is on a four-game win streak while Ooltewah has won seven straight and had an open date in Week 9. ... Ooltewah has a 14-9 postseason record including 1-1 last year. ... The Owls have successfully negotiated the quarterfinals three times and then lost the following week.

Class 4A

East Hamilton (11-1) at Giles County (12-0), 8

Giles County entered the postseason as the state's top-ranked team. ... The Bobcats whipped District 7-AA runner-up Notre Dame 47-7, capitalizing early on Irish miscues -- an interception, a fumble and one of two blocked punts -- while East Hamilton was handling Page 25-14. ... Giles County blistered Page 48-0 in Week 10. ... The only other common opponent is Marshall County, which East Hamilton beat 38-0 to open the playoffs. Marshall County lost 45-14 to Giles County in Week 4. ... Giles played just three teams with winning records, the best of which was seven-win Fairview. ... Bobcats quarterback Al Cobb has 31 touchdown passes with one interception.

Class 2A

Boyd-Buchanan (11-1) at Knoxville Grace Christian (10-1), 7

This is a matchup of the top quadrant's Nos. 1 and 3 seeds. ... Grace Christian clipped Silverdale Baptist 28-20 while Boyd-Buchanan's Buccaneers bumped off Oneida, the No. 2 seed in the quadrant. ... Grace Christian's first playoff appearance in three years was Friday's win. ... While Grace is the overall no. 1 seed, Boyd-Buchanan is No. 4. ... These teams have one common opponent -- South Pittsburg, which lost 47-27 to Grace Christian and 35-21 to Boyd-Buchanan.

Marion County (9-2) at Friendship Christian (10-1), 8

The top two teams in the second quadrant meet in the quarterfinals with the winner moving on to play the winner between Grace Christian and Boyd-Buchanan. Marion surprised many in the state by knocking off traditional playoff power Trousdale County 48-21 with mostly a knee-knocking running attack. Friendship, though, was the state's second-ranked team according to the TSSAA's Week 10 computer rankings. ... Friendship shut out Trousdale 31-0 in the regular season.
