Two killed in head-on crash with ambulance on Highway 58

Two women were killed Tuesday morning after their truck collided head on with a Rural Metro Ambulance on Highway 58.

Misty Browning, 29, was driving with Jennifer Friddell, 30, when their 1997 Ford Ranger began heading north in the southbound lane, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Janice Atkinson.

The truck then collided with a Rural Metro Ambulance, which was transporting a special needs child to a nonemergency doctor's appointment.

Browning and Friddel, who are both of Georgetown, were pronounced dead at the scene. The five people in the ambulance were treated for minor injuries at local hospitals and released, Atkinson said.

Atkinson it is "unknown" why the truck was traveling north in the south bound lane. The investigation into the traffic crash is ongoing and being handled by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division.
