Festival season winds up this weekend

This is the final weekend of the area's festival season, with the exception of Chattanooga Market's Holiday Markets that begin Nov. 30.

Three of four events are located in the East Brainerd/Collegedale area, making them doable in a day. The fourth is a holiday trunk show in Athens, Tenn., sponsored by The Arts Center.

Pat Armstrong, Athens Arts Center director, said 21 artists and craftspeople will be exhibiting in the holiday gift market. A percentage of sales will benefit the center.

"We'll have pottery, handmade goat-milk soaps and lotions, handpainted and hand-dyed scarves and shawls, lots of jewelry, glass items, turned wood bowls, quilts, copper-plate etchings, art gourds, paintings and all kinds of ornaments from glass to wood to paper," she said.
