Hamilton County officials will kick off a yearlong series of events celebrating the 100th year of the Hamilton County Courthouse at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 15, in the courthouse's second-floor rotunda. The event marks the opening of a historical exhibit of photos and facts about Hamilton County's history, focusing on the county's early years. Many of the photos have not been previously released, according to Mayor Jim Coppinger. The exhibit will remain on view through November 2013. The courthouse occupies the block between Sixth and Seventh streets and Walnut Street and Georgia Avenue. For more information, call 209-6117.
