Another case of meningitis reported in Tennessee

The meningitis outbreak is linked to the fungus being accidentally injected into people as a contaminant in steroid treatments. It's not clear how the fungus got into the medicine.

Federal officials Friday reported one new case of fungal meningitis in Tennessee pushing the total since the outbreak began to 82.

The CDC report shows the number of deaths in Tennessee from the outbreak remains at 13. The last report was on Wednesday.

Nationwide the number of meningitis infections rose from 461 to 480 and the number of deaths increased by 1 to 33.
