Hosts win 25-team McCallie Invitational

With its 200-yard freestyle team and 50 freestyler Dennis Sohn earning first-place finishes, the host team was the boys' winner out of 25 teams in the McCallie Invitational swim meet Saturday.

GPS was third in the girls' standings with Kristen Myers and McCay Mathis finishing one-two in the 100 butterfly and April Forsthoffer winning the 50 free and finishing second in the 100. Myers was second in the 200 individual medley, and Mimi Doi was third in the 50 free.

Sohn and teammate Trey Danks were second and third in the boys' 100 free for McCallie, which totaled 418 points to runner-up Westminster's 256. McCallie got another third place from Jamie Hayes in the 500 free and was second and third in relays it didn't win.

Signal Mountain's Matthias Porter was first with McCallie's Trevor Wagoner third in the 100 breaststroke.

With eight total firsts, including Nicole Stafford in the 100 and 200 frees and both free relays, Westminster was the combined boys/girls winner with 587.5 points to 423 for second place Northview, which was third in the boys' standings and fourth in the girls'.

Northview got wins from Knox Auerbach in the boys' 100 and 200 frees and from Sam Bray in the 100 back. Harpeth Hill, the girls' runner-up with 327 points to Westminster's winning 331.5 and GPS's 320, got firsts from its 200 free relay team, Michelle Chintanaphol in the 200 IM and 100 back and Elizabeth Stinson in the 500 free.

Other event winners were Westminster's Katie Christy in the girls' 100 breast and Derek Cox in the boys' 500 free and Milton's Griffin Garratt in the boys' 200 IM and 100 fly.
