Chattanooga: Free parking on holidays announced

Monday, November 19, 2012

Just in time for the Black Friday shopping madness, parking meters will not be enforced (and need not be paid) on Thursday and Friday this week, officials with the Chattanooga Parking Authority announced.

In addition, the authority will suspend meter parking on the following holidays: Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

However, parking restrictions in unlawful areas, including bus or loading zones, yellow curb, no parking, handicap spaces, and the Fort Wood Residential District, will remain in force all day, seven days a week, a news release from the authority states.
