Who's next at Tennessee?

The most commonly discussed candidates to replace Derek Dooley as Tennessee's next head coach:

1. Jon Gruden

Age: 49

Current job: ESPN NFL analyst and Monday Night Football color commentator.

Current salary: Signed a five-year contract extension in Sept. 2012 worth $4.3 million per year.

Summary: He became the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl when he led Tampa Bay to the title in the 2002-03 season. He got his coaching start as a graduate assistant at Tennessee in 1985-86, where he met his future wife, Cindy. He made stops at three other colleges as assistants and was an NFL assistant with four teams before becoming head coach at Oakland in 1998. He compiled a 95-81 overall record in 12 years of coaching the Raiders and Buccaneers.

2. Bob Stoops

Age: 52

Current job: University of Oklahoma head coach

Current salary: Signed a 7-year extension in Sept. 2011 worth $4.9 million per year.

Summary: Was defensive coordinator at Florida (1996-98) before taking over a downtrodden Oklahoma program. In his first season with the Sooners he led them to their first bowl game in four years and won the 2000 national championship. He is 147-36 overall in 13 seasons with the Sooners.

3. Charlie Strong

Age: 52

Current job: University of Louisville head coach

Current salary: Signed 7-year extension in Oct. 2011 worth $2.3 million per year.

Summary: Was the defensive coordinator at South Carolina (1999-01) and Florida (2002-09) before taking over at Louisville. Is 23-14 in three seasons with the Cardinals.

4. Jimbo Fisher

Age: 47

Current job: Florida State head coach

Current salary: Signed a 5-year extension in Feb. 2011 worth $2.75 million per year.

Summary: Was the offensive coordinator at LSU (2000-06) and Florida State (2007-10) before getting his first head coaching opportunity with the Seminoles. Is 29-9 in three seasons there.

5. Al Golden

Age: 43

Current job: University of Miami (Fla.) head coach

Current salary: Is in the second year of a 5-year contract that pays him $550,000 per year.

Summary: Built an anemic Temple program into the Big East conference champion in his fourth year, going 17-8 in his final two years there before taking over at Miami. He has a 39-45 overall record.
