Sunbelt Bakery aids cancer fund

After receiving an overwhelming response to its annual breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign on Facebook, Sunbelt Bakery said Monday it will donate $50,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Sunbelt, one of the brands of McKee Foods Corp. in Collegedale, has raised more than $300,000 toward the fight against breast cancer during the past four years. The bakery pledged to donate $1 for every new person who clicked the "Like" button on its Facebook page during the month of October as part of the company's overall effort to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sunbelt reached its goal of 50,000 new likes after 25 days.

"Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in the U.S. and affects millions of lives each and every day," said Jeff Badger, brand manager for Sunbelt Bakery.
