Lady Scots win on Kiaira Cooper's layup

Jessie Blankenship had her third double-double in three games with 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Covenant College women's basketball team Tuesday night, but it was Kiaira Cooper's 17th and 18th points that raised the Lady Scots to 3-0.

They edged Millsaps 77-75 at Jackson, Miss., on Cooper's layup with two seconds left.

Haley Soles and Ruth Gibson scored 11 and 10 points for Covenant. Soles made three 3-point baskets.

Millsaps won the men's game 60-54 as Nick Cortese scored 15 points and Sam Bowman with 12 was the only Scot in double figures.

Elsewhere, the Lee Lady Flames won 61-54 at Tennessee Wesleyan with Hollie German contributing 18 points and four assists and Jenna Adams adding nine rebounds with nine points, countering 14 and 13 points by Cody Houck and Michelle Davis.

Kayla Sewell had 14 points, nine rebounds, five steals and five blocks and Clarissa Medley had 10 rebounds with 10 points as the Sewanee women beat Agnes Scott 44-50. Paige Lowe scored 11 points for the winning Tigers (2-0).

Cleveland State's Cougars rose to 8-0 by winning 125-62 on the road against Bryan's junior varsity, as Travis Jones had 31 points and seven assists, Gabe Dando scored 29 points with 9-of-11 3-point shooting and Ralph Eason had 17 points, 12 assists and four steals. Jameico McPherson and Trey Suttles had 14 and 10 points and nine and 11 rebounds, and Kahan Swift scored 11 points.

The Lady Cougars won 84-55 at home over West Georgia Tech with Ciera Anderson scoring 28 points, Hannah Brown adding 15 and Shadave contributing 12 points, six assists and four steals. Chelsea Jones had 10 rebounds.
