DALTON, Ga. — The U.S. Department of Labor cited MFG Chemical Co. for 20 safety violations at its Dalton, Ga., plant. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Monday that the company will be fined $77,000 fine for exposing workers to fire and explosion hazards in May when an overheated reactor blew a hole through the roof of the plant and released a water treatment chemical into the air., among other safety infractions. Forty employees were hospitalized with skin irritation and respiratory problems.
