Jesse Mathews in Hamilton County court for plea deal

Alleged cop killer Jesse Mathews appeared in a Hamilton County court today for a plea deal.

An unscheduled court hearing was being held this afternoon for Mathews in Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman's courtroom.

There was a packed courtroom before the judge in the otherwise empty courthouse.

The trial for Mathews, who is alleged to have shot Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin, had been set to be held early next year.
