World AIDS Day events on Dec. 1-2

The Southeast Tennessee Council for HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention announces three weekend events to mark the 24th commemoration of World AIDS Day on Saturday. This year's theme is Working Together for an AIDS-Free Generation.

All events are free.

SATURDAY

* World AIDS Day Celebration: 5-6:30 p.m., City of Faith Christian Church, 4708 Dayton Blvd. Speakers, music, light refreshments, candlelight vigil and the Southeast Tennessee AIDS memorial quilt will be on display.

* World AIDS Day at Mainx24: 5-9 p.m., Main Street next to Niedlov's Bakery. Free and confidential HIV testing by Chattanooga CARES. Performances by Christian J. Collier, Robin Burke, Ann Law and Mark Lamb, Ray Zimmerman, Mike Gray, The Undoctored Originals, Improv Jazz Band and others.

SUNDAY

* First Sunday at The Hunter: Noon-4:30 p.m., Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View. Southeast Tennessee AIDS memorial quilt on display and "Still Around," a compilation of short films, will be shown continuously. For more information, call 424-4257.
