Tennessee American Water will unveil the new Phillip D. Glass mascot today as it caps a $1 million renovation of the 1.8 million water tank on which he sits.
Glass, who has long been the mascot for Tennessee American, will hold a Chattanooga Mocs football helmet in his hand, according to a news release.
The company's renovation of the Citico Water Treatment Plant on Amnicola Highway has been a visible reminder of the capital investments the company sinks into the Chattanooga area, said Deron Allen, president of Tennessee American Water.
The renovation will extend the life of the tank by 20 to 25 years, said spokesman Vince Butler.
