Last member of 13-person pharmaceutical drug ring sentenced

A Rossville man who was part of a 13-person crew that illegally obtained and sold thousands of oxycodone pills throughout Northwest Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia and Kentucky was sentenced Tuesday.

Terry Michael Jamerson, 65, was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of supervised release. He was the last member of the crew to be sentenced.

Authorities said Jamerson drove to Florida once a month and persuaded doctors to write him prescriptions for oxycodone. Jamerson then filled the prescriptions at Florida pharmacies and brought the pills back to North Georgia to be sold.

Jamerson pleaded guilty and was convicted in August 2011.

The investigation into the ring was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force and the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office.
