Inner City Aquaponics announced Tuesday it will invest about $80,000 to add a 5,000-square-foot tank to serve as a hatchery for catfish. The Rossville firm, which began in May, expects the expansion will add from five to 10 jobs.

The company plans to partner with area high schools for worker training. The business combines aquaculture (the raising of aquatic animals such as fish in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a common environment.

"We currently have commitments purchasing everything we can produce through 2015," company ower Ryan Cox said.
