Saturday last day to register to vote by mail

Saturday is the last day for Tennesseans to register by mail to vote if they want to participate in the Nov. 6 election.

While the deadline is Monday, the U.S. Postal Service will closed that day for Columbus Day, a federal holiday, so mail-in applications to register to vote must be postmarked Saturday to be valid, Secretary of State Tré Hargett says in a news release.

Meanwhile, Tennesseans can still register in person to vote through the close of business on Monday at 93 of 95 county election commission offices.

Hamilton County residents may obtain a registration form online.

For other questions about registering to vote, find telephone numbers for your local election commission office at tnsos.org/elections/election_commissions.php or call the state Division of Elections’ toll-free hotline at 1-877-850-4959.
