RINGGOLD, Ga. - In a matter of seconds during Wednesay night's Region 5-AAA softball tournament game, Ringgold's Ericka Bynum experienced joy, pain and gratitude.

The Lady Tigers' slugger, who had sprained her ankle before the second-round game against Sonoraville, hit a home run late in what would turn out to be a 7-0 Ringgold win. She fell rounding first base, reinjuring the ankle and collapsing at the bag.

Several Sonoraville players worked together to lift Bynum and proceeded to carry the Ringgold senior the rest of the way around the bases. The selfless act was greeted by a standing ovation from the crowd and much gratitude from the player and her coach.

"What they did was something that will always stick with you," Ringgold coach Rachel Hodge said. "She had just hit a home run against them, so they could have acted very differently. Instead, they did something very nice."
