VW dealers get jobs portal
Volkswagen of America has launched a dealer personnel recruiting site -- VWDealerCareers.com -- after a test pilot program that began last May.
With a 37 percent sales increase so far this year, Volkswagen of America is poised for continued growth, officials said.
Available positions range widely from sales and service consultants to finance managers, with technicians being the most sought after candidates by VW dealers nationwide.
"Volkswagen dealerships are seeing a greater need for new employees in order to meet the growing demand for our products," said Jonathan Browning, Volkswagen of America's chief executive.
Crash Pad wins Platinum LEED
The Crash Pad has gained the top green building certification, becoming the first hostel in the world to earn LEED Platinum status.
Opened in June 2011 on a one-acre site off of Main Street on Chattanooga's Southside, The Crash Pad is one of only three lodging facilities in the United States to get the top LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The hostel, which is owned by Max Poppel and Dan Rose, includes a five-panel solar array on an awning, precast insulated concrete walls and a green roof to capture rainwater and limit stormwater runoff.
The Crash Pad rents for $27 a night for a bed in the bunk area to $70 a night for a private room.
LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council's rating system for the design and construction of energy efficient and green buildings.
