Small plane crashes in Birmingham; 1 woman hurt

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A single-engine plane has crashed at a Birmingham intersection, injuring one woman.

Police Sgt. Johnnie Williams told WBMA-TV that the plane carrying a male pilot and a female passenger crashed during an attempted landing at Birmingham International Airport.

The pilot was not hurt, but the woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said the couple was flying from Kansas City, Mo., to Birmingham.
