The Southern Newspaper Publishers Association has awarded the Chattanooga Times Free Press with top honors for print quality. The Times Free Press placed first in the SNPA’s print quality contest for newspapers with circulation between 50,000 and 100,000. The TImes Free Press is owned by WEHCO Media, whose flagship newspaper, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette was judged best in print quality for newspapers with a circulation over 100,000.
Judges evaluated newspapers for quality attributes that can be objectively measured: black ink density and uniformity, color ink density and uniformity, color register, page alignment, litho defects and other defects.
