An 18-year-old mother was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse Thursday after bringing her daughter to the hospital with a fractured arm.
A doctor at the hospital found numerous fractures throughout the baby's body — most were old and already healed, according to an affidavit.
Katheryn Hurst, of 3119 Campbell St., told police she easily gets frustrated with her two children and sometimes has thoughts of hurting them. Hurst initially told police the baby's father, Gary Joiner, fell while carrying the child and caused the injury.
Both parents later admitted that they fabricated the story because they were afraid of getting in trouble for the injury, the affidavit reports.
Hurst also admitted she thinks she caused the injuries to her daughter. She was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
