Sean Astin draws 1,000 guests to First Things banquet
What: More than 1,000 guests turned out to hear actor Sean Astin at First Things First¹s annual banquet in the Chattanooga Convention Center. The actor, son of actress Patty Duke, has starred in movies such as 'Goonies,' 'Rudy,' 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy and '50 First Dates.'
Benefits: The banquet raised nearly $250,000 for First Things First.
Wine over Water
What: Wine Over Water, the annual wine-tasting benefit held on the Walnut Street Bridge, was a sell-out this year with 2,800 people attending. Guests had their choice of nearly 350 wines from more than 100 wineries.
Raised: More than $150,000 for historic preservation efforts of Cornerstones
