Love new director at Hixson center

Doyle Love has been named as executive director at Life Care Center of Hixson. He most recently was executive director of Life Care Center of East Ridge, where he served for six years.

"I try to live up to my name," he said. "I feel like God has placed me in long-term care to help others."

A certified nursing home administrator, Love earned his bachelor's degree in health care administration.

"Doyle's background in nursing, as well as his proven leadership abilities, are perfectly suited for this new placement," said Mike Pigg, vice president of Life Care Centers of America's Cumberland Region.


Decosimo promotes Shipley

Decosimo has promoted Natalie Shipley to senior assurance manager in the firm's Chattanooga office.

She is a certified public accountant with more than 10 years experience in public accounting, with specific experience providing audit services to benefit plans and clients in the health care and restaurant industries.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Lynchburg College and holds a master of accountancy degree from the University of Denver.


Two attorneys join Chambliss

John Lawrence and Leah McElmoyl have joined Chambliss as associate attorneys.

Lawrence is a member of the litigation and risk management practice group at Chambliss. He graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law where he served as the editor-in-chief of UNC's The First Amendment Law Review. Lawrence has a master's of divinity from Wake Forest University and a bachelor's degree in history from Duke University.

McElmoyl is a member of the firm's business and taxation and estate planning groups. She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law where she served as a senior editor of the Alabama Law Review and has a bachelor's degree from Auburn University in agricultural business and economics. McElmoyl is a member of the Chattanooga Tax Practitioners.


Edwards joins practice

Shallowford Family Dental Group has welcomed Dr. Dan Edwards to the practice.

Edwards has joined the team of Drs. Tom Gardenhire, Charles Ankar and David Lewis and practices all aspects of family and cosmetic dentistry.

A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Edwards is a graduate of Grand Valley State University and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. He and his wife, Rachel, have three children.


Moore gets ACWM award

The Appalachian Center for Wilderness Medicine has named Dr. Chris Moore as recipient of the group's Mountain Laurel Award for 2012. The award was presented at the ACWM annual dinner in Fayetteville, W.Va.

The award, bestowed annually by the directors of ACWM, recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of wilderness medicine by an individual or group in the southern Appalachians. It is considered a lifetime achievement award.

Moore has served as the medical director of the World Cup Whitewater Competition, the U.S. team trials, and was the venue medical coordinator of the whitewater competition at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Currently, he serves as president of The Odyssey Co. in Chattanooga.


Mullis picked for Walker award

Jeff Mullis was named the 2012 Walker County, Ga., Citizen of the Year by the Walker County Chamber of Commerce at the 30th Annual Walker County Gala recently.

The 2011 Walker County Citizen of the Year, Nelda Parrish, presented the award in honor of Mullis' dedication to community, civic and religious organizations.

He was elected in November 2000 as a state senator. He currently is chairman of the State Senate Music Committee and the Halls of Fame Joint Committee, and serves as chairman emeritus of the Sportsman Caucus, whose mission is to promote hunting, fishing and the Second Amendment.
