Dalton police hire 4 new officers

The Dalton Safety Commission voted unanimously to approve the hiring of four new police officers.

Officer John Gurrieri, Jacob Allen and Serena Martin all graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Police Academy last month and participated in the police department’s field training program since Oct. 1, said Police spokesman Bruce Frazier in a news release.

The fourth officer, Jacob Burger, was rehired after leaving the agency for a stint with the Georgia State Patrol a year ago and coming back.

The hires are to replace vacancies resulting from retirement and turnover.
