Interact Club sets up Haunted Orchard in Bridgeport

SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. -- The South Pittsburg High School Interact Club will host events the next two weekends to raise money for local charities.

Saturday, students and volunteers will transform an area on Summer House Mountain in Bridgeport, Ala., into the Haunted Orchard. It will be open from 7 to 10:30 p.m. CDT.

Interact Club sponsor Mary Dawkins said all proceeds from the event will become donations from the club to area charities.

"The Haunted Orchard provides the Interact Club members with a fun project, because the kids love getting together to set up and dress up for the event," she said.

Tickets for the event are $6 each and include a hot dog, chili, chips and a drink. Children under 5 years old get in free.

"The Haunted Orchard has a great atmosphere and provides family fun," club co-sponsor Elizabeth Mount said. "This also is a great community event. The residents from Summer House Mountain join in to help decorate. Some are tour guides, and some even dress in costume to be a part of the event."

The club also will organize a dog walk on Nov. 4 from 2-4 p.m. CDT at Kimball Park in Kimball, Tenn., to raise money for Marion Animal Resource Connect.
