Jack Hanna visits Banana Ball

What: The annual Banana Ball was held at the Chattanooga Zoo with special guest Jack Hanna. Guests got the first look at the new Deserts and Forests exhibit, enjoyed hors d¹oeuvres and dancing. Earlier in the day, Hanna was guest of honor at a children¹s banana split party during which he autographed his children¹s book, 'Passport Into the Wild.'

Benefits: Care of the zoo¹s animals as well as conservation, education and rehabilitation programs.


Taste of North Shore auctions raise $66,00O

What: The annual Taste of North Shore/Sample of the Southside was held at Track 29 with 520 guests bidding in a silent auction and 'not-so-silent auction.' Guests also had the opportunity to sample house specialties from 28 North Shore and Southside restaurants.

Benefits: Raised $66,000 for programs of Northside Neighborhood House.

Highlight: Of that amount raised, $14,000 was given after an inspirational talk by a former NNH program participant. That money will help fund a new teen program.


Jazz dinner benefits Hosanna community

What: About 150 guests attended 'Harvest for Hope ... and All That Jazz' at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center. Guests enjoyed dinner catered by Moss Place and music by the Tee Bumpass Band.
