Convicted sex offenders who are under parole supervision in Georgia will be under house arrest or must report to their parole officers during typical Halloween activities hours, roughly between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m., according to a news release from the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

"They (sex offenders under supervision) will not be allowed to decorate outside the home, have outside lights turned on, or answer the door and participate [in trick or treating]," said Jay Lacienski, field operations director for the board. "They have been strictly directed not to do anything to entice children into their homes."

Parole officers will check residences of paroled sex offenders to ensure compliance, the release states.

Georgia has fewer than 900 sex offenders under parole supervision, according to the release.
