The Georgia Department of Labor will conduct a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Chattooga County Civic Center in Summerville, Ga.

Italia Aguilar, branch manager for Protemps, said the temp agency is looking to help fill at least 70 jobs expected to be added by January by Mohawk Industries for its plant in Chattooga County.

The creeling jobs for the carpet mill initially will pay $9 an hour, but workers typically move up into higher paying jobs after three months, Aguilar said.

Under U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old.

While no manufacturing experience is necessary, applicants must have a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and a resume. If they have passed the Georgia Work Ready test, they should bring their certification.
