2 rescued from Wolf River flood waters

BILOXI, Miss. — Mississippi Department of Marine Resources says its marine patrol rescued two men who drove around a barricade and were swept off Cable Bridge Road in Harrison County due to rising flood waters of the Wolf River.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight Friday.

Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan says though the men were in full-size pickup truck, they found themselves in water from a flooded Wolf River too deep to drive in.

Sullivan says the truck was pushed off the road by the rushing water, trapping the men inside the cab. He says the truck rested against a tree line, which kept it from rolling over or being swept into the river.

The MDMR patrol pulled the men off the roof of the submerged truck.
