Sales of Volkswagen’s Tennessee-made Passat sedan hit 10,900 in August, setting a new record for the month, VW of America reported today.
Overall VW sales for August rose 62.5 percent as the company posted its best August in the United States since 1973 with 41,011 units sold.
“We’ve got the right product mix,” said Frank Trivieri, vice president of sales for Volkswagen of America.
VW also reported that the Chattanooga-made Passat sales for the year so far hit a best-ever mark of 74,162.
The Tiguan sold 2,746 units, the best August ever for the vehicle, while the Volkswagen Touareg sold 1,030 units, a 77.3 percent increase.
