HOOVER, Ala. -- The Birmingham Barons beat the North Division champion Chattanooga Lookouts 5-1 in their Southern League baseball regular-season finale Monday.

Chattanooga starting pitcher Andres Santiago threw four scoreless innings before allowing three walks and two singles in a turbulent fifth inning in which Birmingham scored three runs. The Barons added two in the sixth before the Lookouts got on the board in the eighth when Joe Becker drew a bases-loaded walk that scored Nick Buss.

Chattanooga won the North Division's second-half title with a 41-29 record for a second consecutive year.

The Lookouts are off until Thursday night at 7:05 EDT, when they begin the best-of-five playoff series in Jackson, Tenn. The Lookouts and Generals will announce their pitching rotations later this week.
