A home to a mother and her child burned this morning, but no one was injured, authorities said.

About 1 a.m., Chattanooga firefighters responded to a call at 806 Line St. A neighbor saw the fire and called 911, officials said.

When firefighters arrived, flames already were shooting out of a bedroom window. The fire was put out in about 10 minutes.

Battalion Chief Fredrick Blake said the mother and child were not home at the time of the fire but were located a short time later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
