Bridgeport woman accused of hitting deputy in face

A 26-year-old woman from Bridgeport, Ala., has been accused of striking a deputy while being booked on domestic violence charges, authorities said.

Shanna Ruth Thomas was brought to the Jackson County Jail today on charges of third-degree domestic violence and disorderly conduct, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. While being booked by Corrections Deputy Genna Brown, Thomas is accused of hitting Brown in the side of the face, the release said.

An additional charge of second-degree assault was placed on Thomas for the incident, the release said.
